For Jude

A child watches the television

Spending hours in front of a black box

That beckons them

Entices them

Comforts them

A child enters the television

Turning to its call

Confronted by its opinions

Getting lost in the mimicry

Like butterflies

In search of, in reach of

A sense of safety/Identity

Based on injury

A child leaves the television

Where to go?

What to be?

--

Indeterminate

Floating in outer space

A nowhere place

Experimenting without a destination

A child exorcises the television

From within

No need to be something

That has always been

Burning the Other

Breaking free from a disciplined desire

A misunderstanding

Emerging,

Resting

In stillness

In this forever place

A child is free.
