A Presentation of the Self During a Particular Moment in Time

I decided to call this piece the lengthy title of “A Presentation of the Self During a Particular Moment in Time” because even though it’s an interview and I’m speaking from a personal place, there is a level of performance that is embedded within it. I felt this while I was filming because I had to keep referring back to my script in order to hit all the points I wanted to get across. I also had to change my physical appearance, act within the parameters of an interview, and the way I “performed” is inspired by the actions of my ethnographic interviewees. Because of this, what you end up watching is simultaneously a work of fiction and non-fiction.
