a little life.

Experimental Short Film / 3mins / 2018

What are the things in our lives that make us who we are?

Captured through a visual diary, the film is an exploration of the changes and moments that occur in one’s life. In nature, metamorphosis is the journey of an organism’s change from one form to the next. The film takes us through that journey as it captures the growth that we, as humans, experience as we come of age and travel through the path of life. Because this path consists of a multitude of ups and downs that in turn molds us, the film aims to capture what it is that allows us to change in form as we move from one stage to the next.

Much like Jonas Mekas’ diary films, the film creates a portrait of a life by capturing moments of memory, which evidently illustrate how the details make up the person. These details are shown through visuals that symbolize the emotions we feel as we grow onto ourselves – numbness, excitement, anger, sadness, serenity.

It is all in the whirlwind of our little life.
